The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requires all pre-registration nursing and midwifery students to complete 2,300 hours of practice. Clinical placements which will equip you with the right skills, knowledge, confidence, and competence to become registered nurses. Your clinical placements can be hosted in any of the neighbouring NHS trusts (Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Leeds and York Partnership Trust) or you can be hosted in one of the GP practices within Leeds boundaries.

As a Practice Assessor, how do i annually update?

You can choose how you want to evidence to the NMC that you are up to date and head of any changes in practice education. You may choose to sign up to the NMC quarterly educator newsletter, attend one of the twice yearly Leeds Beckett University Host Practice Assessor conferences, or you may choose to attend an education conference.

Is there a multi professional student forum that students in General Practice can access?

The multi professional learner forum happens once a month, for more information contact your practice learning facilitator [email protected] and she will send you the links to the forum.

Is there support for educators?

From September your practice learning facilitator will provide weekly drop in sessions to support you in your educator role and troubleshoot any issues. These will be hosted on MS Teams every Wednesday 12-1. Please email [email protected] for the link to this session.

Your Practice Learning Facilitator will provide a 2 hour forum, which will be held once every semester. This forum can serve as your annual update, bringing together nursing educators from General Practice and community. It presents a valuable opportunity to foster a community of practice where we can share best practices and innovative approaches in nursing education. Together, we will collaboratively address some of the most significant placement issues and challenges that arise in our work. To ensure that the forum covers topics that interest you the most, we aim to feature external guest speakers, who will present on specific subjects as decided by you. These speakers will bring insights and expertise, enriching our discussions and enhancing overall educator and student experience. To access the below forums please email [email protected]
