Calling members of our workforce from ethnically diverse groups: a great opportunity for development!

Leeds has been working with West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership to secure funding for dedicated  Coach /Mentor training for members of our health and care workforce from ethnically diverse  groups.

Our ambition is to increase the diversity of our coaching /mentoring networks to truly represent our Leeds workforce. This opportunity will also result in a formal qualification to enhance your own personal development and career progression.

What is it?

An accredited ILM 5 Coaching and Mentoring Certificate for 2 cohorts for West Yorkshire:

  • One cohort for members of our health and care workforce who are specifically from an ethnically diverse group (15 places).
  • The second cohort is open to everyone (20 places).
  • There will be additional training focus on belonging, wellbeing and system leadership as part of the programme.

Places are limited and the deadline is Friday 20th May. Course scommences at the end of May 2022.

How to deal with Violent and Aggressive Patients

This workshop provides operational front line staff, in Primary Care, with the skills and understanding  to be have greater confidence in dealing with any  aggressive behaviour, which they may experience, safely

It also provides the opportunity for personal reflection as well as peer-to-peer learning.

Improving the Patient Experience

By the end of this one day interactive workshop, delegates will understand the importance of the Patient Experience Survey and the access and choice targets that should be reached. They will have examined the expectations of the patients and looked at creative ways to manage these effectively using a range of communication tools.

Promoting and Handling Complaints

By the end of this one day workshop delegates will understand the NHS complaints procedure and be able to identify the key responsibilities and actions required at each stage. Delegates will also be able to handle complaints in primary care effectively using this procedure.

This workshop will also focus on the need for a quality approach and quality standard. Delegates will be able to identify the needs of patients and service users and design and implement quality standards to meet these. This programme will conclude with delegates completing a quality action plan to implement their standards and plans for their evaluation.

Handling Difficult Conversations

The aim of this workshop is provide delegates with the skills to deal with difficult people in the workplace. These may be patients, colleagues or other people they meet in work situations.

By the end of the workshop delegates will be more confident in their ability to deal with these tricky situations.

How to Develop Problem Solving Skills

The aim of this workshop is to give operational managers a practical understanding of the 8 step logical problem solving process.

This will involve walking through the 8 steps, as well as referencing the NHS change model and how to best make change stick.

This will be an interactive session with the opportunity to learn, reflect and network.
