The Friendly Communities Project

The Friendly Communities project at Leeds Older People’s Forum runs a scheme for organisations to sign up as Age Friendly and Dementia Friendly. We aim to help organisations make Leeds more accessible and welcoming for all ages and for people who are living with dementia. We’re currently working with over 130 organisations across Leeds including GP practices, Shopping Centres and Sports Clubs. You can see a searchable map of all the businesses we’re working with on our website.

The scheme is free and every organisation who signs up receives:

Age Friendly and Dementia Friendly window stickers

Publicity via our website, newsletter, and social media

The opportunity to list your business or organisation as Age and Dementia Friendly on Leeds Directory

Our monthly newsletter

Invites to networking events.

Support in achieving actions, including access to staff training.

As part of the sign-up process organisations are asked to list what Age and Dementia Friendly actions they are already taking or will be taking over the next year. These could include things such as staff training, changes to the environment of your premises or adapting the way you communicate with people.

If you’d like to find out more and view our Age and Dementia Friendly guide then you can do so on our website: https://www.opforum.org.uk/get-involved/make-your-business-age-and-dementia-friendly/ You can sign up online using our simple form
