General Practice Nurse

A General Practice Nurse (GPN) is a registered nurse who has accessed further learning to autonomously work within general practice as part of a multidisciplinary team within the primary healthcare setting.  

GPN’s have a broad range of knowledge and treat all ages from birth to death. GPN’s assess, screen, diagnose and treat patients alongside traditional nursing care.   

GPN’s have a major role in health promotion and long-term condition management. Also offering support in contraception, weight management, smoking cessation women and men’s health, travel consultations, Vaccinations and immunisations and wound care and much more.
