Leeds GP Confederation is delighted to announce that the Leeds Community Dermatology Collaborative has been awarded Operational & Clinical Partnership of the Year at the Proud2bOps awards.

The Leeds Community Dermatology Collaborative was awarded the five-year Community Dermatology Contract for Leeds in August 2022. The collaboration is made up of the Leeds GP Confederation, Chevin Medical Practice, OneMedical Group, Street Lane Practice and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

From the very start of this partnership, the collaboration was strengthened by a common vision:

  • Better dermatology care centered around the needs of patients.
  • To improve referral routes between primary and secondary care.
  • To make provision more equitable and accessible, and most importantly, to better meet the needs of our local communities.

The dedication to this shared vision by the team, including both operational and clinical staff, has been key to this great achievement.

Lauren Park, Business & Operations Manager at Leeds GP Confederation said ‘It was an incredible honour to collect the Proud2bOps Clinical & Operational Partnership of the Year award on behalf of the Leeds Community Dermatology team. The achievement recognises the passion, commitment and care the collaborative demonstrates in delivering an exceptional patient-centred service.’

From August 2022 to July 2024 the collaboration has demonstrated providing excellent dermatology care in Leeds. 14,832 patients have been triaged within the service, including 11,110 first appointments and 12,441 follow up appointments. Advice and guidance were given to referring GP practices for 3,235 patients. This service consistently achieves KPIs, including being one of the few services in West Yorkshire to meet the 18-week Referral to Treatment target.

Patient feedback is also positive. In Year 2, 94% of patients were satisfied with their consultation, 95% were satisfied they were treated with care and compassion, and 94% of patients said they would recommend the service to their family and friends.

Patients, and family members of patients, have fed back on the service they have received, with comments like ‘Treatment has been excellent, and the dermatologist succeeded in being both highly professional and hugely personable it’s been an excellent service and experience.’ And ‘Wonderful to have such an excellent service in easy reach of home’.
