Upskilling Health & Wellbeing Coaches through Phlebotomy Training

In December 2023, Lead Nurse, Julie Beer ran phlebotomy training to upskill Health & Wellbeing coach, Andrei Scheul, allowing him to attend phlebotomy clinics as part of Leeds GP Confederation’s Enhanced Access service.

Andrei’s relationship with the Confed started through the NHS Health Check pilot, in which we supported in delivering additional NHS Health Check clinics post pandemic. As part of the pilot, we helped Health and Wellbeing Coaches, such as Andrei, that were supplied by a 3rd party provider, with training and development sessions as well as external training opportunities, to allow them to deliver NHS Health Checks.

Andrei showed excellent commitment and passion for the pilot, and we are proud that we have been able to assist in developing his skillset further through the phlebotomy training. At the Confed we know the value of confident, knowledgeable, and well-trained staff in General Practice. That’s why we’re passionate about empowering people by furthering their skills and experience through high quality training.

Andrei said “I think that the comprehensive nature of the training has equipped me with a good foundation, and I am particularly impressed by the emphasis on practical applications. The Confed fostered for me an environment that encourages learning and growth. The training staff’s dedication and expertise have been phenomenal. I can’t wait to leverage and make use of the course in an applied clinical environment. Last but not least, I want to say a big thank you to the staff for going the extra mile and helping whenever possible!”
